Recycle, Reuse and Make Delicious Roasted Pepper Ketchup!

For quite a while, in my quest of learning and researching ways in which I can make a positive impact within my community, and at large, our world, I have been learning a lot about nutrition, the importance of growing food, caring for food in a non-chemical way (hallelujah compost heaps) and some pretty yummy meals that can be made when the grown food is harvested. When something is good, it is worth being shared and I am SO happy I came across the Kitchen Vignettes Blog, a series of Farm To Table meals that can be enjoyed by family, friends and other loved ones.

In this specific video shared, Tonya from Toronto teaches us, not only how to make a yummy Roasted Pepper Ketchup, but also, the importance of recycling, reusing and helping our environment. Hooray Tonya and to each of you on the quest for making our planet the beloved dwelling place God meant it to originally be – Hats off and Ten Thumbs Up to you too. Let’s keep at it!

As you know, on this path of healthy, communal love-styles amidst my loved ones and our shared home of Planet Earth, I’m Still Figuring It Out!

Health: Going Back To Basics

Before there were outrageous ailments, diseases that became ‘incurable’, weird ingredients in foods that we do not know how to pronounce and snacks with no nutritional content what-so-ever, there were communities looking after the livelihood of each other. The great news is that even though we have fast forwarded to our current day, there still are communities rebuilding and seeking the livelihood of each other. We often hear about sustainable life and it sounds savvy, but it’s all about building the basic fundamentals of healthy living.

Healthy living isn’t only about eating right, but, it’s about connecting; connecting with the Earth that grows our food, communicating with our food in the crops we nurture and sharing with our neighbours and infecting the community with this bond. When we ‘infect’ each other with this type of communal love, we build stronger and healthier nations.

I reside in the Caribbean, and yes, we once had these basics down-pack, but, like everywhere else, we also became modernised, not that anything is wrong with modern lifestyles, it has presented us some of the most beautiful advances to honestly get us ahead, but, we are getting so carried away with the “getting ahead” part, that we are easily forgetting about the principles.

The video I’ve shared is from a series, hosted by PBS and other Wonderful Contributors called Lexicon of Sustainability. The series offers some wonderful insight about building healthy lifestyles from the seed to the farm to our tables and to our neighbours, outer communities, nation and the world. Something which is absolutely Beautiful!

To Be Sexy or Not?

photo

That is the Question!

We are often bombarded by magazines telling us what’s hot now, what’s no longer hot; the trend of the day, the trend of the month, the trend of whenever/whatever, the “accepted” size etc etc. I adore style, anything that looks beautiful, I want to rock it and for me, sexy is the ability to feel confident, empowered, happy, —– fill in the________! Sexy, doesn’t mean sex, well, that’s MY opinion, but I know we can each have differing opinions.

As usual, Pinterest is my playground, whenever I get the chance, and the pictures above are just a few styles I really like from Pinterest, nope, stealing others photos aren’t my thing, but I just think these were some beautiful styles. I see these fellow sisters as beautiful, sexy women who are confident, empowered, happy and – fill the _______! They do not need a magazine to tell them they’re beautiful or they have to dress in a specific way; however, they are rocking sexy well.

Sexy comes in all styles, colours, sizes, shapes, beliefs…..

Rock on with your sexy self sisters, and brothers, you too, don’t think for one moment I’m leaving out my guys!

Simply, we’re just Figuring It Out! Right?

When You Have A Dream…

…Defy All Odds!

Good morning(evening/night) to my fellow Pressers! Today is another day of motivation burning in my soul and I just HAVE to pass on the goodness to each of you. Today, go out and conquer something of importance to you; whether it is a small portion of the bigger picture, the middle that bridges the gap of the bigger picture or in the case that it is the finale, congratulate yourself for taking on the task and not giving in to lose out; because yes, there are the days we do give in, those are the days we rejuvenate the spirit to go out and try harder, but, we Complete the Task/the Dream/the Difference/the Challenge!

Impossible is just a big word

When God created each of us, He gave us EVERYTHING we required from the beginning to the end! Some things we have to search for, some things are easily found. We are ALL Heroes in our own right, infect someone with your heroic selves today, if you already had a head start to doing so – WELL DONE! If not, hey, it’s never too late. Go out and Conquer, it is Your Blessing! We’re Figuring It Out – Together!

Juicing for Health, Juicing for Wealth

image

So, it turns out that juicing is the new trend, but, is it specifically a trend? Or, is it a lifestyle we can actually adapt to? For quite a while, I have been doing lots of personal research on nutrition and I’ve come to understand that – well – nutrition cannot actually be a hurtful thing. First, I just thought to myself, “great, another trend that will be short-lived,” but when I came across a couple of documentaries about people who adapted to this lifestyle, I recognised, it’s not so bad after all. Besides, if it can help save some expensive medical bills, why not give it a shot. Sure, purchasing the “ingredients” can be time-consuming and some people say it’s too expensive, but compared to purchasing crazy GMO-laced foods and sometimes, the challenging concoction of meds for ailment, I think I don’t mind trying this route. I really wish we can all just be well. Can we support each other in being healthy and wealthy together? Can we be our brothers and sisters keepers? Can we just wish and act greatness into each other’s lives? Life truly is what we make of it! Let’s make it worthwhile with each other!

I decided to take myself to the challenge. Not that it has been so long, but, within the first four (4) days of doing just juices, I lost five (5) pounds and recognised there was a little more of a glow to my complexion than usual. Not that I am a guru or trying to turn anyone over to this lifestyle, but, with regards to health and beauty, two (2) of my favourites, it wasn’t such a bad thing. Any similar experiences? Or am I just crazy here by myself? What do you think?
